Learn about the different ways to create a MyBayad account and what happens during the signup process.

Sign Up Options

Google Sign-In (Recommended)

The fastest way to create an account is using Google Sign-In:

1. Click "Continue with Google"
2. Select your Google account
3. Grant permission for basic profile info
4. You're in!

Benefits: No password to remember, automatic profile picture, easier Google Calendar integration later.

Email and Password

If you prefer not to use Google:

1. Enter your email address
2. Create a strong password (8+ characters, mix of letters and numbers)
3. Verify your email by clicking the link we send
4. Complete your profile

Required Consents

During signup, you'll need to accept:

• Terms of Service - Our rules for using MyBayad
• Privacy Policy - How we handle your data

We take your privacy seriously. Your financial data is encrypted and never sold to third parties.

Onboarding Process

After creating your account, you'll complete a brief onboarding:

1. Set Your Display Name

Choose how you want to be addressed in the app. This is also how you'll appear to household members if you join one.

2. Choose Your Mode

Select your current emotional state:

• Calm - Finances are stable, you want gentle guidance
• Control - Actively managing debt, want clear analytics
• Crisis - Feeling overwhelmed, need simplified interface

Don't worry - you can change this anytime from settings.

3. Household Setup (Optional)

You can either:

• Create a new household - Start fresh and invite family later
• Join existing household - Enter an invite code from family
• Skip for now - Use MyBayad individually

During account creation, we collect:

We protect your account with:

• Secure password hashing (bcrypt)
• HTTPS encryption for all data
• Session management with automatic timeout
• Email verification for new accounts

Privacy Note: Your personal identifiable information (PII) is never sent to AI services. Gab only sees anonymized, aggregated debt data.
